After a short delay, here is the last part of Valent Lau Photography’s Sydney portrait photography session and interview with the fabulously talented Ardella Cosplay. We proudly present Ardella as Power Girl! Shot at Sydney Olympic Park, we used concrete structures to impart the feel of metropolis. We had wanted to use Sydney city as the distant background but unfortunately didn’t have the height needed.
Have you been to any cosplay events outside Sydney/Australia?
- Unfortunately I don’t get to travel a lot but I did have the pleasure of visiting Melbourne for Supanova last year and will be travelling to Adelaide for Supanova this November! I’m also planning a trip to America next year and a trip to San Diego Comic Con is definitely in the cards while I’m there. I hear that American conventions are mind-bogglingly huge compared to Australian ones so I’m super excited.
Do you see cosplay becoming more popular in Sydney in the future?
- Definitely! I think that the idea of going to conventions and being into pop culture in general has become a lot more mainstream in the last few years. It’s no longer a horrible thing to be called a geek, which is absolutely wonderful! I hope that this will only continue into the future and that we’ll see more and more people attending conventions and being drawn into the wonderful world of cosplay.
What can we expect to see from you in the future?
- I’m looking forward to putting my sewing skills to the test, attempting more complex and extravagant cosplays! I’d also love to do some more traveling, both in Australia and overseas, and I look forward to meeting wonderful geeky people from all over the world!
That’s all folks!
